💥 Before attending this session please watch the film Ladybitch on Arte Kino (in your own time). If you have any questions you’d like to ask the director, feel free to leave them here or bring on the night.

/// About the film

Ela, a young actress, is given a role by well-known theatre director Franz Kramer. The production is a great opportunity for Ela, but it also brings pressure. Kramer constantly oversteps Ela's boundaries and the situation comes to a head when Kramer sexually harasses her. Ela struggles to appear as a self-confident character - and realises that she has to take the same steps towards self-empowerment in her real life.

/// Filmmaker's statement

We founded Ladybitches Productions in 2021 with the intention of creating respectful working structures and queer-migrant representations with an artistic approach. We advocate for diversity in front of and behind the camera and want to celebrate feminist and diverse stories. With a queer gaze we want to change the representation of female bodies in films. Our films and series are social critiques with humour. As storytellers, we value the responsibility that our fictions bring and want to create brave role models for FLINTA and migrants, as representation is important and makes us feel less alone. Our debut film Ladybitch is about our personal experiences of abuse in the film and theatre industry.

This guest session is open to all students at Catalyst, and the Arte Kino Festival is open to everyone.
