From Monday 20th - Thursday 23rd May (15:00 - 21:00 daily), dBs Berlin is once again showcasing your artistic diversity with our yearly “Signals” event. This is a whole week of live performances, sound installations and film screenings.

There are three main components (outlined below) plus we are also happy for others to be involved and present their work. There are no classes and limited bookable time during this week (as all techs & gear will be being used), so it’s a great chance to present and appreciate the creative genius of your peers!

1. First year electronic music performances (assessed)

  • all first year EMP students present a 10 minute live electronic performance
  • held in The Void (empty space outside the Film Studio). The space will be converted into a performance area with staging, lighting, sound system etc
  • performances will be recorded, with recordings made available to you to upload with your submissions
Key dates:
  • first draft of technical rider due Tuesday 23rd April
  • final technical rider due Monday 6th

2. Third year “innovation in music production” presentations (non assessed)

  • final year students invited to present their innovation projects in our spaces
  • most dBs Berlin spaces are up for grabs, please contact Hannah for questions on what’s available and your requirements
Key dates:
  • please submit your room request to Hannah by Mon 8th April
  • final details due Tuesday 23rd April

3. Screening of film works (non assessed)

  • a mini film festival of works created by dBs Students, both film and music!
Key dates:
  • films and details must be submitted by Tuesday 23rd April (note: films don’t need to be completed by this date, just accurate details for programming)

More information will be made available over the coming weeks, plus a full programme with dates, times & performers will be made available closer to the time. In the meantime, if you have any questions please speak with your programme leads.

If you would like to be involved in the production or set up, or have an idea for another presentation (i.e. first year CMP and second years students) please contact hannah@dbsberlin.net.
