Hi everyone,

Next month the 74th Berlinale is taking place from 15–25 February, along with the European Film Market (EFM) and Talents Programme. It’s pretty amazing to be studying in the same city as one of the most important international film events, so we want to help you make the most of it.

/// Berlinale Info Session

Join this info session to find out what makes Berlinale one of the “big five” most prestigious film festivals in the world, where and what takes place around the city, and how to prepare yourself including how to create a schedule using their online platform.

This online session will be recorded in case you can’t attend.

/// EFM Tours

Access to the EFM is extremely limited, and usually only available to active film professionals with an official Berlinale accreditation. This is why we're excited to offer these guided tours to students of Catalyst, to see inside one of the most important meeting places of the international film and media industries, find out who goes there and what happens.

  • Tuesday 20 Feb, 12:00, EFM @ Gropius Bau (2x tours, with a total of 20 places)
  • Register here for a spot on the tour (places will be given on a first come, first served basis. The cost is €10 each)

/// Screenology x Catalyst

The filmmaking challenge is taking place during Berlinale, and we encourage teams to compare their schedules and explore the festival in between making movies! Screenology students have been invited to attend the info session.

/// Reduced price tickets & other things

  • Student discounts are available with various price points depending on screening. You need to show your Student ID together with the valid ticket. A limited quota of discounted tickets is available in advance; this limitation is lifted on the day of the screening. Check out their ticketing info for more information.
  • Note that the Berlinale Student Accreditations were assigned prior to the winter break. These were only open to senior students and those not returning in Sept 24.
  • FEST will not be hosting their regular party ‘Party Like it’s Portugal’ this year, however more information about attending FEST in June is coming soon (I also have some passes to give away - stay tuned!).

If you have any questions, please let me know.

See you soon,

Hannah
